I have been flying light airplanes - you know, those little, single engine jobs - for over 10 years. I have a private pilot's license and I fly only for fun. At the end of '94 I became an owner of 1/2 of a 1946 Piper Super Cruiser (PA-12). Our plane, registered as NC2691M, spent 18 years in a barn in Utica, New York, before my partner rescued it. The airplane was restored in about one year and we started flying it in October of '95. My wife calls the aiplane Daisy.
Here are some photographs of Daisy:
Since the above pictures were taken we have taken on athird partner, who happens to be an airline pilot, so now there are three of us who own the plane. Last year, that is 1997, we flew about 150 hours between the three of us.
I'm a member of the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) and I participate in the Young Eagles program. The object of Young Eagles is to give kids rides in airplanes, to show them the fun of flying. I have officially flown only 5 young eagles, but I'm working up on increasing this number. Besides the ride, the kid gets a nice certificate and a magazine from the EAA.
We usually have a picnic at the airport while we give rides - that is, me and other pilots. If you are know some kid who'd like to get a ride and you live in Central New Jersey, send me Email. Of course, the rides are free. See the EAA home page for more details about the Young Eagle program.
